Do you have the cutest pet? Then submit a photo to the Humane Society's Calendar Friends Contest! Proud pet owners can submit a photo of their prize pets by visiting The HSBC's Web site http://www.adoptme.org/ Photos can be uploaded directly and paid for via credit card or PayPal. Each submission is $10, and each vote costs $1. Get all your friends and family to vote for your pet, or just weigh in on which you think is the most adorable. The calendar photo contest, which ends Sept. 30, will feature the 24 top-ranked pets submitted. The top 12 will be given full display for eone month of the calendar, and the remaining will be featured in photo insets throughout the calendar. All proceeds go to the Humane Society of Bay County, which is this community's only no-kill non-profit animal shelter.
Lead Poisoning Warning
Do you live in a house built before nineteen-seventy-eight with any children six years old or younger? If you do, your children may be in danger of lead poisoning. Children can be poisoned by eating dust from chipping and peeling lead paint and soil containing lead. Divorce Care, a special help seminar and support group for people experiencing
divorce and separation, will be held on Wednesday evenings at Panama City

Beauty Pageant Contest Applications Available
The RiverFest Beauty Pageant Contest applications and entry forms are now available. Contestants can pick one up at the Growing Tree in Marianna, The Community Safety Coalition office in Marianna, at Sneads Town Hall, or by e-mailing businessinformation@earthlink.net. The RiverFest Beauty Pageant will be held at Sneads High School on Friday, August 29, 2008 beginning at 6:00 PM CDT. Rehearsal is Thursday, August 28, 2008, also at 6:00 PM CDT. There are six categories for contestant hopefuls and they include 2 – 4 years: Tiny Miss (Heirloom Dress); 5 – 7 years: Little Miss (Heirloom Dress); 8 – 9 years: Young Miss (Short or Long Dress); 10 – 12 years: Junior Miss (Short or long dress); 13 – 15 years: Teen Miss (Long or Tea length); and 16 – 18 years: Miss (Long or Tea Length).
Entry fee for the Pageant is $50.00 paid no later than Monday, August 18, 2008. Additional optional entry includes Photogenic for $10 and contestants wanting a final score card will be charged $10 extra. Each contestant is asked to send a small headshot with the entry form and fees for publication in the newspapers. Contestants need to bring a photo to the Pageant for the judges. Halloween In Downtown Panama City
Halloween is coming to downtown Panama City on Saturday October 25th ! Held alongside Panama City’s Festival of Nations, the Panama City Toys for Tots will hold its 1st annual Pumpkin Lighting Contest in McKenzie Park starting at 5:30pm.

The mission of Toys for Tots is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. Beaches Chamber’s Community Board Room Open to Local Non-Profits
The Greater Panama City Beaches Chamber of Commerce recently launched its new Tourist Information Center at the Beckrich Centre in Panama City Beach, where the Chamber offices have been relocated. The Chamber’s new Community Board Room, is now available to all Bay county non-profit organizations for their meetings and gatherings. The Community Board Room, which seats up to 40, is decorated with artwork by Paul Brent. Extended Hours at Incinerator
The Bay County Waste-to-Energy Facility will extend its hours of operation to commercial and residential trash haulers in an effort to offset the increased waste stream the approaching tourist season brings. Beginning March 9, the facility will be open on Sundays from 7 a.m. until noon, continuing through the Labor Day weekend.

Keep the Ark Afloat GOLF Tournament
Noah's Ark and Bay Point Resort Golf Club will host the 1st Annual Keep the Ark Afloat Golf Tournament. This event will be held at The Meadows Course. Noah’s Ark has been a creative Christian presense in Panama City Beach for 35 years because of gifts from individuals, local churches, our conference, and a major grant from the Hearn Foundation in 1978. However, they have outlived these gifts and MUST begin raising funds intentionally. We are looking for local sponsors and donations of gifts. Your gifts will enable the Ark to provide a larger and more effective staff, maintain and/or add to our facilities, and continue to build a creative Christian community with you and others who visit Panama City Beach.
